THE NATIVITY ALTARPIECE

The fragment of the Nativity Altarpiece conserved in the Church of Sotopalacios is an early example of the importation of Flemish-made altarpieces to Castile and León during the second third of the XV century. This particular altarpiece has been linked to Brussels manufacture, more specifically to the workshop of Willem Aerst.
