The predella of the altarpiece was added later at the beginning of the XVI century. Apparently, it might possibly have been made in workshops in Burgos. It comprises five different spaces. Groups of figures are distributed over the three centre sections with individual figures placed at each end. (The figure on the left is missing.)
The altarpiece still conserves the side wings to the centre body. The wings to the frontispiece, however, are missing, but traces of the hinges by which they were originally attached can still be seen, thereby verifying their original existence.
Along the arch on the frame around the figure of St. John the Baptist, only two of the eight small groups of figures with their corresponding canopies that originally decorated the niche containing the figure remain today.
Some minor losses of paint, faded colour and partial painted redecoration minimally affect our appreciation of the original altarpiece. Generally speaking, the altarpiece is in an excellent state of conservation.
