ALTERATIONS

Some elements of tracery, plinth and fleurs-de-lys are missing, as well as the arms of Mary Magdalene all of which allow us to see the kind of joints used in the figures: namely, wooden dowels inserted into both the surfaces to be joined together. The polychrome decoration has also suffered general damage  and large areas of the blue background and the panel paintings on the wings are also missing. The frame of the altarpiece has been partially given a fresh coat of red paint.

The altarpiece was restored in the Centre for Conservation and Restoration of the Cultural Property of Castile and León from 1999 to 2001. There it was given anoxia treatment, cleaned, colour was fixed, ceramic pieces were securely attached, missing parts were reintegrated and a protective final coat of decoration was applied.
