SCIENTIFIC ANALYSES 

Scientific Analyses:

• Analysis of the polychrome decoration (13 samples were analysed by Mercedes Barrena in the Centre for Conservation and Restoration of the Cultural Property of Castile and León):

- Preparation of gesso and protein glue on both reliefs and backgrounds and in paintings. 

- White lead primer and traces of black smoke in paintings.

- The red of the frame is a coat of minium and vermillion to which a red glaze has been later applied.

- Blue protein temper.

• Analyses of the ceramic support: Infrared Spectography, X-Ray Diffraction, Carbon and Sulphur Elemental Analysis, X-Ray Fluorescence:

White baked clay.

• Characteristics of the wood:
